One of the REDD+ Project that the company invested in, consists of 86,000 hectares in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. The deforestation rate there is 0.82 ha/year and the area is home of 800 river-dwelling families. This project helps mitigate widespread illegal logging and “slash and burn” practices. We help communities to generate sustainable income and develop and procure the organic certification of non-timber forest production chains. The Verified Carbon Standard, one of the leading standards for carbon offsetting, is used. Biodiversity, social and other “co-benefits” are monitored using the Social Carbon Standard.
